Two drug suspects found living illegally in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) have been arrested and are set to face deportation after a recent police raid in Lefkosa. Authorities discovered that the individuals, both foreign nationals, had been residing in the TRNC without proper documentation while allegedly engaging in illegal drug-related activities.
The suspects, whose identities have not been released, were detained during a coordinated operation by local law enforcement. Following their arrest, it was revealed that the pair had been living in the country unlawfully and were involved in the possession and distribution of illegal substances.
As part of the legal proceedings, the suspects have been placed in prison for a period of three months while they await trial. During this time, the investigation will continue, and authorities have confirmed that the individuals will face both deportation and criminal charges if found guilty of drug-related offenses.
The case has raised concerns over illegal immigration and the rising issue of drug trafficking within the region. Local authorities have reassured the public that efforts to combat both issues will be intensified in the coming months.
The Ministry of Interior has pledged to take swift action against illegal immigration and drug-related crimes to maintain public safety and uphold the rule of law in the TRNC.
